Italy

Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world and is the world’s second largest wine producer behind France. Italian wine is exported around the world and is also extremely popular in Italy since grapes are grown in almost every region of the country and there are more than one million vineyards under cultivation.
There are 20 wine regions in Italy and they correspond to Italy’s 20 political regions. Wine grape growing takes place throughout the entire country. With Italy’s long north-south peninsula, each Italian wine region benefits from the micro-climates assisted by the exposure to the seas.
