FEW American Gin

For nearly a century Evanston, Illinois, the home of the Temperance Movement, was a dry city. In dire need of liquor laws that weren’t penned the same years as the invention of the band-aid, FEW’s master distiller Paul Hletko overturned century-old prohibition laws to become Evanston’s first distiller of grain spirits within the city limits. In a world chock-full of mass-produced spirits, only few remain truly handcrafted, and small-batched. FEW Spirits are a new take on timeless distilling techniques, and transcend the oft-ordinary taste we’ve all grown accustomed to. Distilled from the very best grains, aged to perfection, and bottle under their own roof, FEW remains in their own hands until distribution. FEW Rye was even names craft whiskey of the year in 2013 by Whiskey Advocate – no small accomplishment.

Distilled in Evanston, Illinois, the home of the Temperance movement, this small-batch spirit is a modern-style gin produced with a grain base in a nod to Dutch Genever. Its botanicals include juniper, elderflower, lemongrass, coriander and angelica root.

NOSE: The nose is perhaps as malty as you might expect. That warm woodsy nose is surely present and a bit of a giveaway as to the base.

PALATE: You can pick up notes of lemon meringue pie, with burnt tips. A hint of cinnamon with the lemon in here and a long mellow finish. Lots of juniper and even some vanilla.

FINISH: In the midst of the burn and malty character is a touch of bitterness
