Description

The Recanati Special Reserve White Wine represents the best of each vintage. The best vineyard blocks are treated with the utmost care, and the best wine is then chosen by the winemakers to create our flagship wine. Our special Reserve wines are produced in excellent years only.

The Wine

Special Reserve white 2012 presents, for the first time in our winery, two exceptional Mediterranean varieties: Roussanne and Marsanne. Their origin is from the Rhone valley in France and the blend of the full bodied Marsanne with the spicy Roussanne creates a rich and unique wine, a beautiful local expression to these two grape varieties.

Vinification
After careful hand harvesting in August, grapes are brought cold to the winery where they are gently pressed as whole clusters to preserve maximum levels of aroma and flavor. Only free-run juice is used. The juice begins fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 57 degrees Fahrenheit and completes fermentation in barrel, where it rests sur lie. The wine underwent 50% malolactic fermentation and was bottled on May of the following year.
