Red wine is made from grapes of deep purple, or bluish color. If the grapes, from which the wine is made, are grown in warm places, it results in richer, riper style of wine, and the grapes grown in the cooler climate produce more delicate, perfumed and restrained wines. Incidentally, the juice from the grapes is greenish or white, therefore to achieve that beautiful deep color the skins of the grapes are fermented with the pulp, so that the pigments and tannins can transfer to the wine. This process is called maceration. Some of the most known grape varietals of red wine are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Malbec and Syrah.

The palate is full bodied with rich red berry fruit flavors complimenting a backbone of tannin. An exceptional compliment to red meats, roasts and game.
