Aberlour distillery was founded over 180 years ago in the heart of Speyside region and now owned by Pernod Ricard. Aberlour is one of the lesser known whiskys, but one that offers an exceptional quality and value, and this variation of their classic 12 year old expression is truly a hidden gem! Aberlour 12yr Non Chill-Filtered is remarkable sherried malt (yes, even though it is not necessarily marketed as such, just like its 12 yr double cask sibling this malt definitely has plenty of sherry influence, the only thing that might be different is the ratio of sherried to the not sherried malt in the bottle) is non chill-filtered (check!) and bottled at 48% or 92 proof (big check!).
NOSE: Rich and fruity with notes of sweet strawberry jam.
PALATE: Sherried character and deep fruity plum aromas, balanced with a rich chocolate, toffee, cinnamon and raisins.
FINISH: Long, sweet and very slightly spicy.
