Aberlour distillery was founded over 180 years ago in the heart of Speyside region and now owned by Pernod Ricard.
This Aberlour 12yr single malt scotch whisky is matured for at least 12 years in two types of casks: sherry and bourbon, and then “married” together before bottling. Bottled at 43% alc/vol.
NOSE: Clover honey, fruit, hints of sherry.
PALATE: Velvety, with the notes of fruit, spice, toasted grain, and wood.
FINISH: Short, slightly sweet, with a hint of spice.
Note: This bottling of Aberlour is a great introduction to this great and often overlooked single malt, and also to sherried whiskys in general (a better alternative to Macallan 12yr!). If you enjoy sherried malts and want to experience Aberlour’s full potential, do yourself a favor and check out its non chill-filtered sibling!
