Description
Amrut is the first Indian whisky distillery. It was established in 1948 and is located in Bangalore, India. Amrut can be translated as elixir or water of life.
Amrut Fusion is distilled from 2 types of barley: grown at the foot of the Himalayas and peated barley imported from Scotland. The barley is mashed and distilled individually in small quantities and aged separately in oak barrels. After the barrels reach maturity, they are married together in ex-bourbon casks and then bottled at 50% alc/vol. It is not chill-filtered.
This expression won numerous awards, including “The Whisky Of The Year” in 2011 by Malt Advocate, “Third Finest Whisky In The World” by Jim Murray in 2010.
The nose of this whisky reveals rich barley, fruity and citrusy notes, a touch of spice, and a hint of peat. On the palate, you’ll experience oak, a rich and gentle peat presence, fruity flavors, dark chocolate, barley, and a touch of sweetness. The finish is long, with lingering spice and a note of sweetness.
