Description

Since 1760, Lanson has crafted champagne the traditional way. Unlike many Houses, we choose to avoid malolactic fermentation and insist on three years’ cellar ageing; more than double the minimum required. As a result our champagne is crisp, fresh and uplifting, with an exceptional purity of fruit. Still a family-run House, Lanson takes great care to craft its champagnes and create consistency of style year after year. Lanson Rosé is the UK’s best selling rosé champagne, and much of the enjoyment our champagnes provide can be traced to the House’s years of expertise. Lanson’s chief winemaker, or Chef de Cave, Jean Paul Gandon has been with the House for 39 years and has the job of blending each and every one of our champagnes. Jean Paul and his team work closely with Lanson’s growers and have longstanding relationships, enabling access to the finest Crus. It is only through grape quality and diversity that the finest champagnes are crafted. In recognition of this, Lanson also owns vineyards, including the prestigious Clos de Lanson, a one-hectare vineyard of Chardonnay grapes in the centre of Reims. It is the only vineyard left within the walls of the city and its very first vintage, 2006, will be released this year. Housed in the limestone cellars of Lanson’s home in the capital of Champagne, Reims, also lives our library of fine and rare vintages. It is the quality of Lanson’s vintages in particular, for which the House has always been renowned. Each Vintage blend is aged for at least five years; our use of traditional methods giving each champagne the ability to age gracefully. Champagne Lanson is a House proud of its heritage and has an unrelenting dedication to the quality and consistency of its wine.

Lanson has been making rosé champagnes for more than 60 years and our Rose Label is one of the most sought-after around the world. True to our distinctive house style we avoid malolactic fermentation, which results in a rosé of supreme delicacy and purity. The delicate pale salmon colour is produced through the careful addition of a small amount of Coteaux Champenois Bouzy Rouge, a still red wine produced from Pinot Noir grapes. The result is a lightly hued, fragrant and delightful rosé champagne perfect for any occasion.

Billecart-Salmon Brut Rose Champagne’s pale salmon colour and taste of fresh, succulent summer berries make it a perfect accompaniment to any romantic spring or summer occasion. Delicious served with fresh red berry desserts or simply on its own. Billecart-Salmon Brut Rose Champagne is a blend: 32% Chardonnay, 53% Pinot Noir, 15% Pinot Meunier.

Wine Spectator 92 points – A racy streak of tangy mineral underscores the flavors of pink grapefruit granita and slivered almond in this vibrant version, with hints of toast and orchard blossom. Well-knit and elegant, with a lasting, spiced finish. Disgorged July 2016. Drink now through 2022. 2,500 cases imported. -AN.November/2017
Wine Enthusiast 91 points – The beautifully judged pale-orange-pink color of this delicious wine is a sign of the balance in the glass. It is crisp and towards the dry end of Brut, typical of the Lanson style. There is fine acidity and a crisp texture from the Chardonnay in the blend. Hints of red fruits come through along with a touch of tannin. The wine is ready to drink..December/2017
Decanter 90 points – Fresh strawberry fruit and floral characters on the nose with crisp and lively palate finishing lengthily (and deliciously) with superb balance..May/2017
