Description

Childhood friends Darek Bell and Andrew Webber began homebrewing beer and wine in Darek and Amy Lee Bell’s garage. They hit a snag while working on a prototype bio-diesel plant, causing Andrew to remark that making whiskey would be much more satisfying. The idea stuck, and the two soon found themselves studying distilleries and spirits. Soon after, Corsair Distillery was founded. Corsair’s spirits have been praised in publications like Food and Wine, Saveur, Imbibe, Whisky Magazine, Whisky Advocate, the Atlantic, Time Out New York, and Maxim.com. Corsair’s innovative and adventurous spirits have won 41 medals at international spirits competitions.

Corsair is probably one of the most well known and acclaimed craft distilleries, located in Nashville, Tennessee. What we like the most about them is that their master distiller Darek Bell is not afraid to experiment, and the outcome is usually quite extraordinary. Corsair Triple Smoke is the whiskey that brought acclaim to the distillery and was named the Artisan Whiskey Of 2013 by the Whisky Advocate. It is pot distilled from malted barley, that was dried using peat smoke, beechwood, and cherry smoke. If you enjoy Isla Single Malts (like we do), you HAVE to try this in your lifetime! Small batch offering, 40% alc/vol.

NOSE: Peat, custard, vanilla, light oak, caramel, leather and a touch of sweetness.

PALATE: Creamy (sort of like Glen Grant creaminess), vanilla, peat (very well integrated), nutty notes.

FINISH: Long, peat dominating, pepper spice.
