Craigellachie 17yr Single Malt Scotch Whisky

$199.99

Craigellachie 17 is a rich, complex single malt, aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, with prominent smoke, vanilla, and fudge flavors.

Description

Craigellachie Distillery was established in 1891 in Banffshire, near the village of Craigellachie in Speyside, Scotland. Craigellachie can be translated from Gaelic as “rocky hill.” The majority of the whisky it produces is used in blended Scotch whiskies, such as Dewars.

Craigellachie 17 is matured in a mixture of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. The bourbon casks bring vanilla, toffee, and fudge notes to the fore, and the sherry casks provide richness and complexity.

Opening with the inviting aromas of apple crumble, melon, and raisins, the nose of this whisky evolves into notes of honeyed barley, a subtle wisp of smoke, and the creaminess of vanilla ice cream. The palate begins with a delightful sweetness reminiscent of pineapple and custard creams, which is soon accompanied by a robust meatiness. While the nose hints at smoke, the palate unveils more pronounced smoky elements alongside a touch of clove and oak. The finish leaves a lasting impression that’s both waxy and smoky.
