Description

Domaine Treloar, owned and operated by Jonathan and Rachel Treloar, is a highly-regarded vineyard and winery situated in the Roussillon, France’s dynamic wine region. The couple’s journey into winemaking took an unconventional turn after witnessing the events of September 11, 2001, near the Twin Towers. This profound experience prompted them to reconsider their lives and transform their dream into reality.

Covering a 10-hectare estate, the Treloars handle all aspects of vineyard work and winemaking themselves, driven by a passion to create exceptional wines at an accessible price, even in limited quantities. Their wines have earned acclaim from Jancis Robinson MW, considered Britain’s most respected wine critic, who regards them as the best in the Roussillon, with eight of their wines currently ranking in her top fifteen. In 2013, Domaine Treloar received the prestigious title of Coup de Coeur (Favourite) Roussillon producer from La Revue du Vin de France, the country’s influential wine magazine.

The Domaine Treloar Le Secret 2012 is a Syrah-based wine with heightened oak influence compared to the Three Peaks. This imparts a more intense blackberry fruit aroma with a subtle hint of campfire. The palate showcases excellent balance, benefitting from decanting for a couple of hours to reveal a complex combination of dark berry fruit, grilled steak, and charred wood. Recommended for aging up to 8 years to fully appreciate its nuances.
