E. H. Taylor Single Barrel is another boutique bourbon from the Buffalo Trace distillery, which is famous for such bourbons as: Buffalo Trace, Van Winkle, Blanton’s, Elmer T. Lee, Rock Hill Farms, Sazerac, W.L. Weller, and several others. This outstanding limited edition bourbon is bottled at 100 proof and packaged in a vintage label and canister, which are reminiscent of Taylor’s bottles from nearly one hundred years ago.
NOSE: Buttery, deep oak, and plums. The nose contains much of the signature oak DNA of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection and other Buffalo Trace Bourbons.
PALATE: Entry is sweet and buttery, goes to a mild zesty citrus character and the arrival is a prevalence of “smokiness” reminiscent of a Scotch. The acidic nature plays against the smoke in a strange fashion at first, but after more sips becomes an interesting journey.
FINISH: Long finish of serious oak stays firm on the tongue along with citrus, bitters, and tobacco.
This bourbon is a must try for all the Pappy fans, and if you also enjoy Scotch, you are going to love this one!
