Description

Gin Mare is born from a pure Mediterranean environment, with a novel pan-Mediterranean concept that unites the different cultures around the sea. Produced with botanicals sourced within the Mediterranean area, in addition to the traditional juniper, bitter orange peel, Seville orange peel, lemon peel, cardamon, and coriander seed, there are Arbequina olives, basil from Italy, rosemary from Turkey, and thyme from Greece.

All the botanicals except the citrus are macerated individually for 24-36 hours in neutral grain alcohol from a premium barley base before being distilled in a copper pot still, again, individually. The three citrus botanicals, a custom blend of sweet oranges from Seville, bitter oranges from Valencia, and lemons from Lleida, are macerated as fresh peels in neutral grain alcohol for an entire year before distillation. It’s not until all the botanicals have been distilled individually that they are then married in the blending process.

The gin has a mild and clean aroma with a prominent presence of rosemary, accompanied by subtle herbal notes that strike a well-balanced tone without being overpowering. A touch of juniper further enhances the olfactory experience, contributing to a pleasing and contemporary nose.

Transitioning to the palate, the taste offers a satisfying sensation, beginning with a vegetal quality that maintains its smoothness throughout. The initial impression on the front of the palate captures the essence of rosemary, followed by subtle hints of orange and juniper, creating a dynamic interplay of flavors that unfold harmoniously.

Upon reaching the finish, there is a brief surge of heightened warmth, adding a momentary intensity to the tasting journey. This warmth gracefully recedes, leaving behind a lingering and distinct final note of thyme that contributes to the gin’s complexity and depth, providing a captivating conclusion to the overall tasting experience.
