Description
Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining independantly owned distilleries in Scotland. It was established in 1836 and is located in the Speyside region in Ballindalloch, Scotland. Glenfarclas can be translated as “the valley of the green grass”. It was bought by John Grant in 1865 and to this day is owned by his descendants. The distillery has 6 copper pot stills, which are the largest in Speyside, and it is one of the few distilleries that mature its whisky on site in traditional dunnage warehouses.
Glenfarclas 10yr is a wonderful sherried malt, offering much more complexity one would expect from a 10 year old whiskey, which makes it a very nice everyday dram for an experienced scotch drinker, as well as a splendid introductory malt.
NOSE: Tempting sherry-sweet malty tones combine with delicate smokiness, releasing subtle spices. Warming the glass reveals honey, vanilla and pear drops.
PALATE: Delicately light, with a mouth-watering combination of maltiness, smokiness and sherry sweetness. Hints of dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves tempt the taste buds further.
FINISH: Long, smooth and spicy, with a delicious, yet delicate, lingering smokiness.
