Description

Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining independantly owned distilleries in Scotland. It was established in 1836 and is located in the Speyside region in Ballindalloch, Scotland. Glenfarclas can be translated as “the valley of the green grass”. It was bought by John Grant in 1865 and to this day is owned by his descendants. The distillery has 6 copper pot stills, which are the largest in Speyside, and it is one of the few distilleries that mature its whisky on site in traditional dunnage warehouses.

Glenfarclas 12yr is a sophomore offering from the distillery, it was originally meant as an export and travel retail only edition. It was named the Best Sherried Whisky in the Single Malt World Cup in 2006. Bottled at 43% alc/vol.

NOSE: Light sherry, honey, hint of oak, raisins and smoke.

PALATE: Medium bodied, dates, walnuts, sherry, earthy, toffee, apples.

FINISH: Long, allspice, cloves, citrus, sherry.

Final note: This is a great alternative to other mass produced sherried whiskies and at a better price!
