Description

Glenfarclas is one of the few remaining independently owned distilleries in Scotland. It was established in 1836 and is located in the Speyside region in Ballindalloch, Scotland. Glenfarclas can be translated as “the valley of the green grass”. It was bought by John Grant in 1865 and, to this day, is owned by his descendants. The distillery has six copper pot stills, which are the largest in Speyside, and it is one of the few distilleries that mature its whisky on-site in traditional dunnage warehouses.

Glenfarclas 21yr is a terrific example of an older, heavily sherried malt. It offers layers and layers of complexity, it’s rich and deep, and it’s a great value for your buck. Bottled at 43% alc/vol.

The initial nose is rich yet initially reserved, revealing notes of orange, sherry, apple, and a subtle hint of mint. The palate offers a creamy and exquisitely balanced experience, showcasing sherry sweetness, barley, aged leather, a touch of dust, and the essence of raisins. The finish is long, accentuated by barley sugar and a delicate note of light oak.
