Description

Kilchoman is the newest distillery on the Isle of Isla, the first one to be built there in 125 years. The distillation began in June 2005. Kilchoman is one of the few distilleries in Scotland that does all the stages of production from growing barley to bottling at the distillery. All the whiskys produces are un-chill filtered, natural color and bottles at minimum 46% alc/vol.

Kilchoman Machir Bay is a core expression of the distillery, it was first released in 2012, and won the gold medal at the IWSC the same year. It is bottled once a year from a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. The 2013 expression is a vatting of 5 year ex-bourbon casks and 4 year ex-bourbon and Olorosso sherry casks.

NOSE: Smoke, marmalade, lemon zest.

PALATE: Sherried, oaky, black pepper, butterscotch, green apple, cocoa, and peat smoke.

FINISH: Long, spice, iodine, ash, cassis.
