Description

Melini Terrarossa Chianti Classico 2013

The house of Melini is located at Gaggiano, 300 metres up in the Chianti Classico hills on the road that runs between Poggibonsi and Castellina. Melini’s long tradition goes all the way back to 1705, when the estate was founded on the philosophy of enhancing and characterising Chianti Classico. Its story goes hand in hand with that of Chianti and the first attempts to introduce this wine to the overseas market. Today Melini possesses 524 hectares in the classic Chianti zone between Siena and Florence and estates with famous names such as Selvanella, Terrarossa and Granaio. The main cellar where the Chianti and other great Tuscan wines are vinified and matured is in Gaggiano; the Vernaccia is vinified and aged at a second cellar in San Gimignano.

Fattorie Melini Terrarossa is sourced from within the Sienese region of the Chianti Classico DOC from hillside vineyards surrounding the village of Castellina. These hillside vineyards sit between 900-1,200 feet in elevation and are made up of varied soils of alberese, marl, clay and gravel.
