Description

“Dair Ghaelach Kylebeg Wood,” which translates to “Irish Oak,” presents a distinctive whiskey story. This expression has been matured in casks made from native Irish oak grown in Kylebeg Wood, located on the Ballykilcavan Estate in Co. Laois. The oak infuses the whiskey with the essence of Ireland’s heart, adding a unique character to the classic rich and spicy profile of Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey. Managed by the Walsh-Kemmis family for thirteen generations, Kylebeg Wood has a legacy of responsible forest management that respects nature. Carefully felled trees were used to create the Irish oak hogsheads for this edition of the Dair Ghaelach series, symbolizing a harmonious relationship with the environment. The whiskey’s tasting notes showcase a captivating blend of fragrant spices, fruity notes, and velvety textures, culminating in a long finish that embraces the influence of the Irish Oak. This release pays tribute to the people, flora, and fauna of the region, embodying the spirit of Ireland’s heartland.

Dair Ghaelach Kylebeg Wood reveals a nose filled with fragrant woodland spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, entwined with aromatic oils, earthy pot still notes, a touch of nectarine, and subtle white pepper, all enhanced by undertones of dairy fudge and vanilla. On the palate, the pot still spices gain intensity from the Irish Oak, leading to flavors of rich caramel, stewed apple, delicate hints of orange peel, interwoven dark chocolate, nuances of honeycomb, and soothing vanilla. The finish is wonderfully prolonged, gradually fading the fruit and spice elements while leaving the enduring essence of the Irish Oak to linger with its distinctive character.
