Description

Springbank distillery was founded in 1828 and remains to be one of the very few independently owned distilleries in Scotland. Springbank is one of the 2 distilleries to perform every step of the production process on site from malting the barley, to bottling the spirit (big kudos to Springbank and Kilchoman, which is the second distillery to do so). Springbank single malt is also available from the distillery, as well as Hazelburn triple distilled single malt.

Springbank 10yr is the introductory offering from the distillery, it has been aged in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, non chill-filtered, no coloring added, and bottled at 46% alc/vol. It is a beautifully complex and well balanced single malt, very mature for its age, not an introductory malt for a novice, it requires to be worked with, and the results are more than rewarding!

NOSE: Big with oak, smoke and earthiness, exotic fruit, and a touch of saltiness.

PALATE: Cereal sweetness, rich peat, nuttiness and smoke.

FINISH: Long, crisp, with trailing peat and drying oak.

Note: If you like to experiment with your single malts, here is what you can do: take a bottle of each – Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn, then get an empty dram and pour a third of each of the single malts in, and let them marry for several days. The end result is still going to be a single malt, since all three of those malts came from the same distillery, but we promise it’s nothing like you’ve ever tried before!
