Description

The Arran Malt is the only distillery on the Island of Arran. It was opened in 1995 , in one of the most beautiful locations in Scotland. Only the traditional methods of distilling are used, with wooden washbacks and copper stills designed to our exact specification. The location offers perfect water for whisky production, cleansed by granite and softened by peat as it comes down from the mountain above. The atmosphere of sea breezes and clear mountain air together with the warm flow of the Gulf Stream matures the Arran Malt to perfection in earth floored warehouses.

The Arran Malt Sauternes Cask is a part of Cask Finishes line. It is a 10 year old Isle Of Arran, extra matured for 8 months is ex-Sauternes cask.

NOSE: Honeysuckle, melon and marzipan with a spicy edge to add balance. Add water and a lush fruit attack appears with banana, forest flowers and a rich nutty character.

PALATE: Richly honeyed and backed with a lifting zestiness which slides into spice and zingy salt. Once the dram opens out, vanilla and sultana stand out followed by notes of toasted oak.

FINISH: A glorious combination of voluptuous Sauternes and snake-hippe Arran Malt – a richly rewarding partnership.
