The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 and is located in Craigellachie, Moray, and is considered to be a Speyside distillery. Macallan is one of the best selling single malts in the world, alongside Glenlivet and Glenfiddich.
The Macallan Rare Cask is an exciting new offering from the distillery, and is a part of 1824 series.It is bold, rich, deep and thick, and a departure from their usual uniform, conservative and restrained taste profile. It is made up from hand picked casks of this certain taste profile, that represent less than 1% of all barrels maturing at the distillery. The majority of the casks are first fill Spanish sherry oak casks. Natural color, bottled at 43% alc/vol.
NOSE: Rich, dark chocolate, raisins, sultana, orange peel.
PALATE: Chewy, sherry sweetness, vanilla, ripe fruit, dark berries.
FINISH: Long, cocoa, leather, slightly earthy, milk chocolate.
