Using personally selected single malt casks, the Master Blender curates four distinct scotch expressions, each offering a balanced complexity of flavors.
One of their exceptional offerings, Usquaebach ‘An Ard Ri’ (meaning “The High King” in Gaelic) Cask Strength, is an artful blend of over 20 single malt whisky casks sourced from the Highlands. Under the guidance of the Master Blender, each cask is meticulously nurtured until maturation is perfected. This Cask Strength expression is created from a blend of various aged malts, including those up to 21 years old, and culminates in finishing within sherry casks.
Produced in limited quantities, its aroma unveils raw cacao, toasted almonds, freshly baked pastries, and stewed cherries, leading to a palate of dark fudge, worn leather, and sherried wood. The finish is lavish, highlighted by dark chocolate and hazelnut praline notes. It’s recommended to savor this whisky neat in a proper nosing glass, with a touch of purified water for the optimal experience. Presented in a distinctive “trophy” case, it boasts an ABV of 57.1% and a deep copper color.
