Chenin Blanc is a white wine grape variety, which has its spiritual home in Loire Valley in France. Usually it is very high in acidity, and can be used to produce almost anything from sparkling wines to dessert wines. This grape varietal is fairly neutral, and acquires its flavor mostly from terroir, variation, and winemaking process. It is predominately grown in France, South Africa (known as Steen), United States, and Spain. Chenin Blanc wines are best consumed young, except for sweet Loire Chenin Blank wines, which have a potential to last to a 100 years. Chenin Blanc wines are very versatile and can be pared well with a variety of foods, such as salads, fish, chicken, spicy Asian cuisine, and even cream dishes.
